A multi-dimensional practice for grounded change

Meeting complexity with compassion.

Rooted Action is the home for my work as a researcher, facilitator, teacher, connector, and organizer. Grounded in engagement and mindfulness, I support individuals and organizations as they grow through data, research, curricula, strategic planning, open libraries and resources, and one workshop at a time.

Mission

Rooted Action has one practice with several arms: research and evaluation, learning design, advocacy, facilitation, and contemplative practice.

My work starts with what communities and colleagues already know, the data and the complex, interconnected ideas they share, and gives it back as something usable, findable, sourced, and true. Every offering, from an evaluation report to a workshop or retreat, begins with what already exists: the published evidence and the knowledge of the people who will use it most.

Who I am

A stage manager for researchers, community workers, and advocates

I set the pieces in place so others can step forward and lead, and when a vision is still forming, I bring a steady, nurturing hand to help it find its shape.

What I offer

One practice, several entryways

Each approach draws on contemplative grounding, deep knowledge of the community ecosystem, and my prioritization of setting the stage so other people can shine.

1 · Methodologist

Research and evaluation for education, child protection, and MHPSS programs, from design through validation to recommendations organizations actually use. I bring fifteen years of measurement in crisis settings, participatory and visual methods, and a growing line of embodiment research to better understand how we learn and what we carry. I also support advocacy grounded in evidence.

2 · Online Learning & Teaching

I build systems and curricula, and provide coaching. I teach my own courses on human thriving, wellbeing, learning, and research methodology. Everything is grounded in adult learning theory and contemplative, participatory pedagogy, designed for depth, and learner-led.

3 · Yoga & Vedic Study

A deep dive into yoga and Vedic philosophy, anchored by The Living Practice, my free and fully sourced online library tracing yoga's history, philosophy and present practices. Teaching, facilitation, and collaboration with studios and teachers will grow from here as my 200-hour training completes in early 2027, and my 300-hour training completes in 2028.

4 · Community Engagement

Connecting the self work and the community work. The choose-your-own-adventure urban retreat weaves participants into the healing their own city already holds; alongside it, workshop development and the quiet labor of connecting organizations and individuals who belong in the same room.

How I work

I listen first, name what I am hearing, and reflect it back until the shape of the work is clear. Then I help build the structure that lets you carry it forward. I am direct and warm.

Relational and reciprocal

I move at the speed of trust and tend the connections that make work last.

Grounded

Contemplative practice keeps the work paced for depth and planned to realistic timelines.

Working together

Pricing that keeps the door open

The work must stay accessible to the communities I serve, and it must also sustain me so I can keep doing it. Every offering moves on a sliding scale.

Solidarity
Grassroots groups and small-budget partners.
Suggested
The everyday rate for most partners and projects.
Sustainer
Well-resourced organizations and funded programs.

What's growing

And where I can, I support the people who hold space for everyone else, because they are usually doing it alone.
